There is no question that the current job market is going through a ground shaking revolution. This has been put down to a wide range of factors, remote work, COVID and of course Artificial Intelligence (AI).

AI is having a serious impact on the way might work in the future and the types of jobs becoming available on the job market. As AI automates more jobs removing them from the job market it also creates new jobs in the process, which might create a balance as we create new AI technologies.

As AI technology continues to grow becoming more advanced it is becoming ever more important to have understanding as how it is reshaping the job market as a whole. We need to ensure future work is protected for individuals and education is a key factor to take into account moving forward.

The Impact of AI on the Job Market

AI is causing changes within the job market place on a massive scale. Strangely enough AI is trying to balance the need for jobs across a broad range. It is also focusing on what type of jobs to automate and what skills are needed to build these types of applications.

As AI continues to grow, especially at the current speed it is growing at. It will require more people to work in niche specific fields like data science, machine learning, and of course AI engineering. This type of automation is most likely going to result in job losses for certain types of industries like transpiration and manufacturing. So these are some type of industries that close attention needs to be paid to, to ensure no one is left vulnerable.

In the future you can expect to see more people looking for jobs where they actually work on or work with AI. So it’s imperative that people going into education ensure that they choose what is known as a “future proof” job. As always we recommend everyone should learn how to program, programmers don’t go hungry.

Job Automation Will become More Apparent in the Work Place

Adapt to Thrive Embracing the AI Revolution in the Future of the modern workplace

Moving forward we are going to see a ton of Job automation within our workplace. AI is already being used to automate jobs, you need to ask yourself this question “can my job be automated”. If the answer is yes, you might want to consider what it might be like to work with AI. We advise our readers to learn how to use AI to their advantage and if needs must learn how to create it.

Here are a few examples of where job automation is already taking place:

Chat bots: You might have seen ChatGPT, which is the most advanced chatbot on the market. It is capable of responding to users in a life like way. It can respond to advanced and perform tasks for it’s users. ChatGPT also has a API which can be linked up to websites, this makes it possible to implement into the work place where it can replace virtual assistants or customer service staff.

Machinery: This has been in the works for years and we are already seeing some crazy implementation being used on pieces of machinery. Assembly lines can now be made 100% by robots where no humans are required to work.

Art and Design: Ok we are not there quite yet, but AI can currently creating animations and images with tools like Stable Diffusion and MidJourney. It’s only a matter of time before these art pieces start fooling people to think they are real. – Turns out AI has already fooled some judges.

The main reason why companies are resorting to using AI within their businesses is down to the simple fact that AI can analyse huge amounts of data in an instant. With this data these systems can perform tasks more efficient and at a quicker pace than humans. This makes AI an ideal choice for jobs like data entry/analysis and quality control.

This all of course raises a lot of questions in regards to job displacement. Are we in a time where we might no longer require these kind of employees anymore and if so what new jobs will they occupy? This is one of the many examples of the Dark Side of AI and why mass adoption needs some form of regulation.

New Jobs and Skills

As AI systems become more prevalent in our day to day lives they will of course replace jobs. But as these become more advanced it will open a whole world to new job opportunities. These will vary in a wide range of industries and should help balance out the loss/creation ratio of jobs.

  • Data Science
  • Machine Learning
  • Engineering (AI) – Maintaining and Developing these systems
  • Cyber Security
  • Network Specialists
  • UX Designers – To help users interact with these systems
  • Chatbot Developers
  • Prompt Engineering

The main concerns though is that a lot of these new jobs coming to the market place require a high amount of technical skills, especially critical thinking, communication and of course problem solving. So we need to ensure those who have lost their job because of automation are being trained within these new fields of employment.

The Role of Government and Society

We need to be more responsible and of course be held accountable when it comes to implementing AI into the work place. We are talking about peoples livelihoods. This is where government and society as a whole needs to help manage and mitigate the impact of AI on the job market.

Governments have a clear responsibility to invest in education and training programs to ensure works don’t fall behind. These programs should be create to help workers prepare for the future job market. They must also develop policies that promote the responsible use of AI and of course help protect workers from job displacement.

We must pave the way forward and a a society we should must engage in discussions about the ethical implications of AI and work to ensure that AI is used in ways that will benefit society as a whole, rather than just a select few. By working together, governments and society can help to manage the impact of AI on the job market and ensure that it benefits everyone.

Conclusion

Could robots replace us
Could robots replace us, maybe, but not quite yet.

So what do we think here at So Artificial?

Well, it’s a tough one isn’t it really. We love AI every aspect of it but we also need to ensure that people don’t get displaced or left behind. The last thing we want is for people to be left in a vulnerable position. We need to ensure that the introduction of AI within the market place is implemented in an ethical yet responsible manner.

We are also strong advocators of education of these new technologies. So we do hope all of our readers do take one piece of advice with them from this article. “Learn AI”. Secure your future.
